Spotted Coralroot

Scientific Name: Corallorhiza maculata
Family Name: Orchidaceae
Bloom Period: spring to midsummer
Life Span: Perennial
Height: up to 20-40 cm tall
Habitat: Widespread and common at low to mid elevations in moist and wet climates, in thick humus in moist to fairly dry forests.
Leaf Description: A few fleshy scales on stem, same colour as stem.
Flower and Petal Description: Irregular, reddish purple and pink, with wine-red spots. The lowest petals forms an unequally 3-lobes lip white and spotted with purple. 10-30 flowers per stem.
Stem Description: Fleshy red
Fruit Description: Nodding, oval capsules.
This flower is native to the area.
